A warm summer night, and there’s love in the air
Community dance. A young couple. A pair!
So sweet and innocent, but there IS something more
Their HORMONES are raging! And HE wants to SCORE!
A long slow dance can lead to romance
A night of romance can lead to no pants!
No pants can lead………. you can finish the rest
A paternity suit! Complete with blood test!
* ONLY ONE THING TO DO *
After buying a ring, he got down on one knee
Smiled up at her, “Will you PLEASE marry me?”
She answered, “YES!” And a kiss sealed their fate
Won’t come to their senses until it’s too late!
So they’re getting hitched. Something borrowed and blue
The bride wearing white. As if nobody knew!
The truth of the matter is – they needed a sitter
To watch their new baby. Bride’s dad is quite bitter!
It’s a big ceremony. Large crowd overflowing
A happy beginning, and young bride is glowing
But the sad groom seems dazed as if he’s in a trance
He knows if they split, it will wreck his FI-NANCE!
The minister offers for anyone to speak
If they happen to think couple’s future is bleak
Uncle Bob starts to say with a voice that can boom
That he thinks the poor groom is now facing his doom!
But Aunt Rose hushes him. She won’t let him squawk
No good ever comes when she lets poor Bob talk
That’s exactly why he wants to stand up and say
“This IS a mistake! A vow of silence you’ll pay!”
But the nuptials proceed, and the deed is soon done
Marriage complete, and without a shot-gun!
They both say, “I do!” and head for the reception
An event that’s occurring because of conception!
There are all kinds of food for people to munch
But with no open bar, Uncle Bob spikes the punch!
Before very long he is feeling no pain
Bob has a true knack for driving Aunt Rose insane!
There are photos with relatives that don’t get along
They’re grumpy and cranky. The dislike is strong!
Later they’ll cut out the ones they can’t stand
For now and forever – from the family they’re banned!
BECAUSE –
Some kin like to judge. They love a good scandal
Innuendo and falsehoods. The truth they can’t handle!
Those gossips proclaim – couple’s morals were loose
Now groom wears a ring. It’s the world’s smallest noose!
Uncle Bob passes out. He’ll sober up in due course
But right now my Aunt Rose would consider divorce!
Ironic at a wedding to have such a dream
But decades with Bob makes Aunt Rose want to scream!
* THE NEWLYWEDS’ FUTURE *
Their lives will now change as the parenting begins
But it could have been worse. Bride could have had twins!
Then on to the honeymoon. But that’s nothing new
They did THAT nine months before baby was due!!!
